Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
I know a lot of you will say it's not the dog it's the owners but these dogs are fighting dogs and it's in their DNA to fight, how many more people have to be injured or killed before we ban them all?

These dogs are a status symbol for young lads who walk around shopping centres in their vests.

I say BAN all dogs which are bred to fight, anybody caught with one gets 1 year in prison, anyone found breeding them should get 2 years.

Any owners who's dogs attack a person should be treated as though they themselves have walked the streets armed with a knife or gun.

Sorry Gank for this non West Ham related post.

Staffords in the wrong hands are bad news, pit bulls don't bare thinking about my dog has been started on a few times by these.
Most owners(not all)of such dogs are unemployable half wits.
I'll take my pointer for a run at 7ish as always and avoid the riff-raff.

What about all the humans that fight and hurt people?!!!
It is the owners and not the dog. Do you know the list of dogs from DDA? Some dogs can become aggressive and bite other people or animals. Any dog can become dangerous in the wrong hands.
One year in prison? Stoneman you can get up to 14 years in prison if a dog kills someone!

What peroni said.

Treating a dog well doesn't mean lavishing it with everything and letting it do what it wants to.

The big thing to remember is that they are dogs, not humans. That may sound ridiculous but alot of people seem to forget that. It could be the nicest dog in the world but when there are kids around you need to be very careful at all times, no matter what breed.

"My mates family had a pit bull that they treated better than any of the kids."

That there is your problem Grumpster. Obviously not chavvy scum, but clueless and irresponsible owners none the less.

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
Not always the owners.

My mates family had a pit bull that they treated better than any of the kids.

One day when I was sitting there it decided to just bite my arm and lock its jaw on me. Some dogs just have the mentality I suppose and the problem is that when they go, there's not a lot a kid can do as they're strong fuckers.

Luckily in those days I was a Nazi and my bomber jacket saved me.

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
It is always chavvy twats that own these dogs that do this though isn't it. So yeah, there are bad dogs, but they're bad because of their owners.

Bring back strict licensing of dogs and don't let idiots own them, especially breeds capable of doing damage.

'anyone pulled out the old "no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners" bollox yet, to somehow justify another kid/person being mauled by a cunt of a dog?'

Agreed. This really is the sign of a thick, ignorant cunt.

A dog bites someone the owner gets a big fine if the dog kills someone the owner goes to prison. Maybe they won't be so keen to own them

Any dog can be aggressive and any dog (apart from the silly gay rat ones) can do serious harm to a three year old child.

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
I have a simple plan when it comes to dogs or indeed any animal that guarantees the safety of others.

If you have a dog or any pet, it should remain within the boundaries of your property at all times. They should never be walked in any public areas.

If you have a dog that needs long walks, you'd better either buy a property with grounds large enough to walk it within, or get a different pet.

Wasn't this latest one a white boxer? And the one earlier in the week, the dog was known to be dangerous but was somehow returned to it's owner?

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
It should be made law that all dogs should be insured for 3rd party damage (obviously the premiums would be much higher for what are regarded as more aggressive breeds)

All dangerous breeds should be muzzled in public places

It should be illegal for dangerous breeds to be kept at an address where children are present

Failure to comply with any of the above conditions should attract a minimum of 2 years prison sentence

That should sort it!

Re: Is it time to ban all fighting dogs in the UK?
Only losers have dogs like these.

It's like they're saying " I know I am lowlife scum and my life doesn't amount to anything but at least you wouldn't mess with my dog"

The owners have low self esteem.
